An excellent result at today's State Kendo Taikai; Adam Corbett first in the Kyu Individuals; Ryan Oliver 3rd in the Open Dan Individuals; Our Dan Team second in the Open Teams! Our thanks to all our family and friends who helped support us as hosts for this year's Championships.

Inagawa Visit

Congratulations Ballarat on your win against the Inagawa Kendo Team. The result was 2 - nil to Ballarat. Well done! Congratulations to all members who helped make our Japanese colleagues feel welcome over the length of their stay. I suspect we may get an invitation for a rematch as soon as .......

Inaugural Nagae Taikai Win

Congratulations Ballarat on your win at the Inaugural Nagae Taikai. First in the Kendo no Kata was Gary and Tony with Ryan and Tarl third. Carl was our best performer in the Iaido section, three nil in his first match!

Inaugural Nagae Taikai

The following Ballarat members will contest the first Nagae Taikai on 1st June; Gary Oliver, Jason Widdy, Tarl O'Mara, Ryan Oliver, Tony Pickering, Nial Mueke and Carl Ruff. This Taikai is in honour of Sensei Nagae who is returning to Japan after 33 years in Australia.

Ryan Wins in Inagawa

News from Japan: Ryan Oliver of Ballarat won the Inagawa Invitational Kendo Tournament in the Open Dan Individual Section. Competitors from Inagawa, Ikeda, Kawanishi and other nearby cities in Hyogo Ken competed. How often does a Gaijin win a Regional Taikai in Japan????

Coach versus Coach

Gary Oliver defeated Koshimae San in their "Coach versus Coach" shiai in Inagawa, Japan. The score was 2 - nil. Gary then went on to the 2008 Asian Zone Kendo Referee Seminar in Hong Kong as one of three Australians present.
